I vaguely remember X-Clan from my childhood, through my sister playing rap videos all day on the weekends when she would babysit me.
Fast-forward to 2007ish. I purchased my first car with my own money (94 Ford Taurus, and I miss you oh so much). At the time, it had a tape player in the deck. I knew my boy BE.water had a couple of tapes on him randomly, so I told him to let me hold some at college until I could get the CD player put in. He gave me De La Soul’s 3 Feet High and Rising and X-Clan’s To The East, Blackwards. I played the SHIT out of this tape, and to this day it remains one of my favorite albums. Vanglorious…….sissieeeeeeeeeeees.
